PEN’s mission is to improve STEM learning outcomes in the Ghana education system by building teacher capacity. The teacher training programmes PEN provides is infused with MIT-style, learning-by-doing to enable hands-on science regardless of resource constraints. PEN offers a series of workshops where Ghanaian STEM teachers learn, design, and share hands-on activities which complement the national curriculum and are created from low-cost and locally available materials.
PEN’s partners include MIT, Ashesi University, ExxonMobil Exploration & Production Ghana (Deepwater) Ltd, Ghana Association of Science Teachers and others.

SALARY RANGE: GHS1,300.00 –GHS 2,920.00 (Gross)

EMPLOYMENT DURATION: 1 Year (Renewable. Includes three (3)months’ probation)
JOB PURPOSE: To grow PEN’s tested approach for improving STEM education in the Ghanaian context through strategic partnerships. To foster sustainable and valuable partnerships between PEN and STEM education stakeholders through effective planning, development and management of resource mobilization strategies and activities with the aim of scaling up PEN’s hands-on STEM products and services.
Practical Education Network (PEN) is accepting applications for highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) advocates. Applicants must have a strong stem background and deep understanding of STEM education policies, curricula, standards and programmes and must be familiar with relevant institutions and actors within the government, donor and education spaces. The Advocacy Officer will develop, organise and execute a wide range of activities to influence policy according to the scope of our programmes, and specific results-oriented projects.
SUMMARY OF KEY FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Advocacy Officer shall report directly to the Programmes Manager.
Job applicant must possess a minimum of a first degree in a relevant field such as communications, social sciences, law or STEM-related fields. A second degree in public policy, international development and related fields is an added advantage.
Job applicant must have a minimum of four (4) years post national service (Ghana) work experience in communication, advocacy and/or STEM education or related field
Professional command on the English language is a minimum requirement.
