    ABOUT PRACTICAL EDUCATION NETWORK (PEN)

    PEN’s mission is to improve STEM learning outcomes in the Ghana education system by building teacher capacity. The teacher training programmes PEN provides is infused with MIT-style, learning-by-doing to enable hands-on science regardless of resource constraints. PEN offers a series of workshops where Ghanaian STEM teachers learn, design, and share hands-on activities which complement the national curriculum and are created from low-cost and locally available materials.

     

    PEN’s partners include MIT, Ashesi University, ExxonMobil Exploration & Production Ghana (Deepwater) Ltd, Ghana Association of Science Teachers and others.

    JOB POSITION: Communications & Marketing Officer

     

    SALARY RANGE: GHS1,300.00 –GHS 2,920.00 (Gross)

     

    WORK STATION: Accra

     

    EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Fixed Term (Full Time)

     

    EMPLOYMENT DURATION: 1 Year (Renewable. Includes three (3)month's probation)

     

    JOB PURPOSE: Practical Education Network (PEN) is accepting applications for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate person to occupy the Communications & Marketing Officer’s position. He/she will support PEN with communications and marketing skills, competencies, and experiences to increase the Organisation’s brand awareness and drive sales of PEN products and services. The individual must have a strong passion for STEM.

     

    SUMMARY OF KEY FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Collaborate with Management to develop and implement effective communication and marketing strategies
    • Manage the organisation’s corporate branding in line with PEN Branding strategy and guidelines and ensure the maintenance of a good public image at all times
    • Responsible for the communication flow between PEN and its audience and stakeholders.
    • Ensure the effective management of the organisation’s website and social media platforms. 
    • Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches and other marketing material that communicates the organization's activities, products and/or services and STEM education in Ghana. 
    • Establish and maintain relationships with key media organisations and professionals as well as influencers with the am of leveraging the relationships to increase brand visibility and advocacy around STEM in Ghana.
    • Visit schools and related institutions to market PEN products and services, especially the PEN Teacher Manuals, activity boxes and PEN Teacher Roadmap training package.
    • Undertake any task as assigned by Supervisor or the CEO.

    REPORTING:

    The Communications and Marketing Officer shall report directly to the Programmes Manager.

    EDUCATION QUALIFICATION:

    Job applicants must possess a minimum of a first degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Journalism, Social Sciences or Marketing related fields. A second degree in Communications is an added advantage. Alternatively, interested individuals with STEM-related degrees but with working experience in communications; social media management and/or marketing also qualify to apply.

    WORK EXPERIENCE:

    Job applicant must have a minimum of four (4) years post national service (Ghana) work experience in Communications and/or Marketing.

    LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT:

    Professional command on the English language is a minimum requirement.

    • Ability to defensively drive a manual car with valid driver's licence
